This is a special version of the SmartPin Pointer, designed for my Schmidt&Bender scope. As we know, this scope model suffers from an extremely big temperature shift issue, every 10°C temperature change results 4.5 yards misranging on a 55 yds target! This means 8.5 mm shift on the standard S&B sidewheel.
I spent years with testing my Schmidt&Bender scopes from the hardest winter to the hottest summer, so I can make a precisely calibrated sidewheel strip for any difference. Recently, I’m using a 10°C scale with my SmartPin pointer and it works really fine, but I decided to design an Extra version for myself, which is calibrated to my Schmidt&Bender FT scope and has got some other extras, too.
I changed the scale so the distance between two main marks is 8.5 mm ( = 10°C on the S&B scope ), and this scale is on a removable plate, with another scale on the other side. The other scale is shifted by 4.25 mm ( = 5°C). This means, that I can use any sidewheel strip, calibrated to 0, 10 or 20, or -5, 5 or 15 degrees, the scale on the pointer will always fit to it, and the big marks show 0, 10, 20 etc. and every small mark means exactly 2 degrees. The scale covers 24 degrees, i.e. if the sidewheel strip is calibrated to 20°C, you can use the scope between 8°C and 32°C.
Because the illuminated reticle doesn’t leave enough space for a separate EagleEye Clicks Magnifier, I combined it with the pointer. Also this one will be a special version, with an acrylic lens instead of the standard Fresnel type lens.
