Photos of Gearbox Duplex

The first batch sold so quickly that I hardly had time to take these photos… Nevertheless, the new Duplex mechanism can be back-ordered here: Gearbox Winding Forend.

With the adjustable tilt angle, this forend can fit even extreme uphill or downhill shooting positions. Once the angle is set, the hamster will keep that angle when elevated. All adjustments can be done with the rifle’s weight on the hamster, I had a few minutes to try it and it is very comfortable indeed.

With my Gripster palm shelf

As you can see, the forend mechanism connects to the hamster with six M4 bolts. It is possible to use your own wooden palm shelf but since the holes are on the edges, it is advisable to use my Gripster knee rest (can be ordered along with the forend) because the whole forend’s parts sink into it with a snug fit, resulting a very massive connection between the hamster and the mechanism.

Gearbox Duplex

Some people asked why can’t the hamster be tilted. Well, this comes from the principle of the whole mechanism. I didn’t want to make another traditional forend, the point of this design is to be able to adjust the hamster height very quickly and in a comfortable way.

However, I can assemble the Gearbox forend so that the lower gear is rotated by 12° so the hamster can have a decent tilt that some shooters prefer, but it will keep that tilt angle constantly.

But I was afraid that this was not really what people wanted to hear so I gave another thought to the question. You ask, I design. And now I can proudly present the Gearbox Duplex:

Duplex – Adjustable Tilt Angle

As you can see, the tilt angle can be adjusted continuously, with another handle at the lower section. Once adjusted, the whole palm shelf elevates with the other handle and keeps the angle. The system is compatible with most Rowan Engineering’s adapters (see the mounting block with the thumb screw on the 3D-visuals).

First Photos of the Gearbox Forend

The first prototypes of Gearbox Winding Forend have arrived!

After a small fine-tuning, the gears mesh together so nicely as in a real gerabox. The whole system is surprisingly massive. Assembled with my Gripster palm shelf.

Tomorrow I’m going to show it off at the club :-)

How Gearbox Works (video)

This is how the new Gearbox Forend works: Just wind the handle. Even with the rifle’s weight on, even while aiming!

Imagine that you’re already on the target, but you feel that the natural position would result a low shot. Instead of changing your position, just wind a bit on the forend and the elevation is comfortable.

The forend you have always wanted

I’ve just finished with the design of a new adjustable forend mechanism:
•Continuous adjustment between 45-105mm
•Just wind the handle, even while aiming
•Self-locking in any position
•For right and left handed use
•Lightweight, only 170g

The mechanism is smaller than the metal mechanisms, but has a unique feature: there is no need to unlock and lock it, just wind the handle and the forend elevates.

The hamster stays parallel so the Gearbox doesn’t support extreme angles, but if you need only smaller adjustments with a great comfort, then this forend is for you.

SmartPin Combi – Pointer and Magnifier

A new cimbination of my SmartPin Pointer and EagleEye Click Magnifier.

Thhe base is the FT industrial standard SmartPin pointer with a long (30mm) scale and with either two pins or the linear strip, with one ot two magnifier lenses, for FT shooters (elevation turret only) or Target shooters (both elevation and windage turrets).

The position of the magnifier lenses is highly adjustable. As a default, the frames contain a 3x magnification Fresnel type lens, but since eyesights may differ, you can easily replace them with stronger or weaker lenses, or can cut the lenses of an acrylic reading glass into the frames.

Available for 30 and 34mm diameter scope tubes: SmartPin Combi.

Maestro’s Folding Windicator

Many of you have asked it, so here it is: a professional Folding Windicator with marabou feather. It is tiny, weights only 7 gram, nicely polished and fits to all rifles.

Fits to any barrel or air cylinder (with the included adapter). The arm is 15 cm long, clicks into position when folded in or out. Ready to use with cable ties, string and feather, but of course you can replace the string and father any time you like.

Made of high quality laser sintered Nylon, stanless steel nut and volt, genuine marabou feather (golden yellow dyed). Flexible and (nearly) unbreakable.
