New FolloWing on the Inter-Regionals

After two successful prototypes, the first production models of FolloWing Universal are ready. They arrived on Friday, I dyed and oiled them until late evening and then put together in the morning, then off to the BFTA Championship… I used a flat PinPoint trigger blade, I wanted to test this one after the round shape I used the last time. You can see on this picture, how FolloWing works: it sits on the top of my shoulder, the rifle hangs down from there and the two adjustable wings always fit with their full surface, in any shooting position. My Saturday shooting wasn’t too good, but after the competition I was playing with the new FolloWing on the zero range. As it turned out, it is essential to adjust the proper height for the articulated wings, because they have to hold the greater part of the rifle’s weight, but not all. The vertical hook parts have to hold some weights, too. It was a good decision to design this kind of adjustment into the system.

I don’t like to rotate the butt-hook too much towards me, I believe is symmetry. If everything is in line, a possible error is prevented. The wide trigger blade serves the same purpose, I can exactly feel the direction of the pull.

We had some strange standing shots, even on a tree, but the adjustable forend worked well and I didn’t miss any positionals today. Well, some of them was only a lucky shot but let’s remember what uncle Matula said about lucky shots… :-)

I missed a long and windy target, this was not surprising. Then managed to be clear of further misses, until… until I missed Nr. 23, a full size kill at about 35 metres, with a negligible breeze, and then WHATTAFAKK, I couldn’t believe my eyes… I missed my third one on the last lane, but luckily hit the last target. I could hear some MFTA shooters cheering in the background, because NEFTA was leading by 308:307 – but then I handed my scorecard in, the Midlands took over and we won the Inter-Regionals by 316:308 over our greatest rivals.

So the Midlands won the Inter-Regionals trophy, and I made the top score of the day. Our photographer made a photo of me with the cup (and with the winning rifle and the FolloWing on it :-), but this was a team win today so let me name all the Midlands team members here, with their scores:
