I have already written about my new design, a fixed and smaller version of FolloWing system: The little brother: SteadyWing. Now the first few ones are printed and worked fine during the first tests.
The system is articulated but the trick is that the contact points are not the links themselves, but the small caterpillar legs in the joints. These legs can be separately rotated, so the SteadyWing hook extension can exactly follow any shape. And the end element can be rotated, too – this gives a stable fit, standing with its full surface on the shoulder.
See the differences between Normal and Extended version below. The extended version contains an extra link with its extra leg so it is longer and surrounds the shoulder even better.
